Out with the Old and in with the New

Now that the hullaballoo of Christmas and New Year is officially behind us and for the most part, we are all returning to our usual chores, jobs and responsibilities; have you done what is necessary to move forward? Are you ready to make this the best year of your life? Well let me tell you that from my side, I sure as shit hope I have, because I am never ever having another year like 2018. Good riddance I say!!!
Having said that, I do, however, feel incredibly blessed to have seen and understood the lessons that were hurled at me. I made a conscious effort in December to spend time focusing on everything I had been through and figuring out how to release all that crap and make way for what I believe is going to be a truly phenomenal year. Di Atherton is an incredible human who hosts the most beautiful “workshops” from her gorgeous home in the Lowveld countryside. I use the word “workshop” very loosely. I booked myself a “Day with Di” a couple of weeks ago and it was truly one of the best things I have ever done for myself. The entire day meanders entirely at your own pace and I had her undivided attention, wisdom and support all to myself, and it was glorious. One of the little changes, will be to the title of this blog. The Blue Pomegranate, The Musings of P is making way for the Blue Pomegranate, Titbits and Tales…well I like it.
Our Christmas Day was absolutely beautiful and we were blessed to spend it with people who make us happy and who feed our souls and let me tell you, our souls were not the only things being fed on that day. We ate like Kings and the fellowship that took place that day was just glorious. And yes, the sweet mustard was a huge hit with the gammon…frikken delicious combination.
However, it was New Year’s Eve that was my shifting moment. Hubby and I made a fire and we burnt all the “letters” we had written to everybody who had caused pain to us. My best was when I took about seven years-worth of journals and ripped them up and burnt them. People, I let that shit go and it was absolutely frikken amazing. One of my besties, Maddie had gifted me a brand new journal for 2019 and she’s right…there are so many beautiful reasons to be happy!
Hubby and I then spent the evening working through the blueprint that Di had given me and in essence we created our recipe for 2019 and made a list of all the ingredients we would need in order to feast on our creation. It’s a fabulous exercise.
So, yes, I am super excited about 2019 and also for the new and exciting things I am going to be adding to the Blue Pomegranate portfolio.
A couple of days ago I decided to clean out my fridge. I hate waste and refuse to let food go just because it’s not as firm or a little too overripe. I had a whole bunch of red peppers and about 4 kilos of cherry tomatoes. So, I roasted the peppers until they were all black and blistered and then after peeling them, added them, the cherry tomatoes, garlic and lashings of extra virgin olive oil into a pot and let it simmer away for a few hours. The result…the mot delicious roasted marinara sauce and it freezes beautifully. I filled eight little bags and popped them in my freezer. And just like that I have instant meals, but not only that…I now have another product which I am going to add to the Blue Pomegranate Pantry. If you like pasta or pizza, then you will love this sauce.
I’m also launching The Market at Runway Zero4 in February – refer to the previous blog, and I am very excited about this. I think this town needs a “go to” place for local, homegrown, homemade goodies and I quite like that I can help these creative people with a local outlet. And the setting is gorgeous and unique and then you have Nadine’s Coffee Shop there too…what’s not to love!
Oh, and I also plan to grow this blog – so watch this space!
To each and every one of you, who take the time to read this blog and for those who stumble across it, I wish you all a year that is everything you make of it. Blessings in abundance.
